Register your child as soon as possible as places are limited at most schools
It is advisable to register your child as soon as you decide which school in Bahrain you would like your child or children to attend, with the tremendous expat population growth in Bahrain the schools in Bahrain are filling up quickly.
The 3 main schools in Bahrain that follow the British curriculum are British School of Bahrain (in Hamala), St.Christopher's School (in Sar and Isa Town) and Nadeen International School in Adliya.
The St Christopher's school in Bahrain has campuses in Saar (Infant school and Junior school) and in Isa Town (Senior School). Both these schools continue up to A-level, the exams of which can be sat in Bahrain. St Christophers started IB courses in the school year 2008-2009 . The IB-DP programme is offered for Sixth Form, Years 12 and 13.
Close to St. Christopher's Senior School in Isa Town is the Sacred Heart School, for Catholics (Tel: 1768 4367).
The Nadeen International School (Tel 1772 8886) near Adliya is a British Curriculum Primary School, with classes from Pre-Nursery through to Year 6. Children attend the school from 2-11 years old. Nadeen International School Bahrain was established in 1978. It has 320 children enrolled from 50 countries; the mix of children creates a happy atmosphere where different cultures mix and learn from each other.
Following the American curriculum is the Bahrain School in Juffair. The school is operated by the Bahrain International School Association (BISA) together with the United States Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) and takes students from Kindergarten to twelfth grade. It became the first school in the country to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 1982. (The school offers the American High School Diploma as well as the IB Diploma.)
On the Amwaj Islands is the International School of Choueifat Bahrain (opened in September 2006) which is part of the SABIS school network.
With the presure on educational options for local and expatriate children, a new school was built in Riffa, the Riffa Views International School. RVIS School will provide an American curriculum, leading to an International Baccalaureate diploma or American diploma upon matriculation. The school opened in August of 2008 with enrollment in Pre-kindergarten to Grade 5. From 2009 additional grades have been added each school year. Of note will be the segregation of gender classes in the secondary program (grades 6-12) in accordance with the social and cultural traditions of Bahrain and a growing body of research in the United States.
Both of the above schools currently provide a bus service for their students.

Popular kindergarten pre-schools in the western region of Bahrain include the Little Gems Preschool in Budaiya, the Budaiya Preschool, and The Children's House Montessori school in Janabiya (Tel: 17699844). New in the Sar area is the KG school (also in Riffa and Hamad Town) and Early Learners, which is very close to the Sar Mosque.
